Weld Monitor Applications
Pulse Arc Micro Welding
The Weld Monitoring Unit can be used to measure the total weld energy from real time Voltage and Current measurements.
Unlike resistance welding where the heat energy is determined by the current and dynamic joint resistance, micro arc heat energy is determined by the power in the micro arc, which is dependant upon the arc voltage and the arc current.
Where micro arc power supplies safely provide access to these signals, the Weld Monitoring Unit can be configured to monitor a pulsed arc application on a weld by weld basis.
The inherent accuracy of the monitor enables small changes in the arc power to be detected, as are typical with electrode wear and burn back.
Combining this functionality with the PLC interface enables system designers to configure automatic electrode height setting and cleaning functions within automation while additionally having the option to acquire and log the energy measurement information for each and every weld.
